Adam Ferguson
In the last three years Adam's work has explored the social tensions that undermine images of an economically booming India, Pakistan as it grapples with poverty and political insecurity, and the military occupation of Afghanistan.
Adam Ferguson grew up in New South Wales, Australia, and completed a Bachelor of Photography at Australia's Griffith University. After interning with VII Photo Agency in Paris, he moved to New Delhi, India in 2007 to work as an independent photographer covering South Asia.
Ferguson has documented the social tensions that undermine images of an economically booming India, Pakistan as it grapples with poverty and political insecurity, and the military occupation of Afghanistan.
His photographs have been published internationally by Time, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Stern, The Financial Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, UNICEF and Human Rights Watch, among others.
Ferguson has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including being selected as one of the Photo District News 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch in 2009. In 2010, Pictures of the Year International awarded him a News Picture story 1st Prize for his coverage of the Afghan elections, an Award of Excellence for his coverage of U.S. Army troops in Afghanistan's Wardak Province, and a spot news 3rd prize for a photograph of the aftermath of a suicide bombing in Kabul. The same photo received a 1st Prize in the Spot News category at the World Press Photo Awards. In 2010, Adam received a photojournalism award from the PDN Photo Annual and was selected to participate in the 17th World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.
Adam was invited to join the VII Mentor Program in 2009 and then joined the VII Network in 2010. He is based in New Delhi, India.
